South Florida IAEDP Chapter Holds Holiday Fundraiser in Boca Raton, FL

The South Florida Chapter of The International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP) held a fundraising luncheon at Maggiano’s Restaurant on December 3, 2011 in Boca Raton,FL.  Proceeds of the event go to providing education, certification and the promotion of effective treatment for eating disorders. New Study Reveals the Depth of Self-Harm Practices Among Teens

A new report released mid-November examining teenagers and self-harm found troubling results. One in 12 teenagers will engage in self-harming activities such as cutting, burning or other life threatening risks. The study was conducted by the Center for Adolescent Health, Melborne, Australia. Lifeskills South Florida Professionals Weekend, November 10-13, 2011, Deerfield Beach, FL

Lifeskills South Florida held a Professionals Weekend November 10-13, 2011 at its’ Deerfield Beach, FL location. The focus of the weekend was training on Mentalizing-based Treatment (MBT) for Adolescents, Adults and their Families. This forward thinking training was facilitated by Efrain Bleiberg, MD, Senior Psychiatrist and Past President of The Menninger Clinic, Houston, TX. His book, Treating Personality Disorders in Children and Adolescents: A Relational Approach was published in the fall of 2001 by Guilford Press. There were over 35 professionals representing a variety of treatment disciplines from both the US and Canada. (more…)
